It made it easier to go through all the instructions knowing that I could get help when I needed it. It helped me to stay calm and not lose my patience. I thank Yulisa, Joey, Alex and Shena for helping me through all the hurdles encountered during this process. The credit was issued through Paypal a week later. I received confirmation from Wondershare that the subscription had been cancelled and that I was eligible for a refund. As I had sent proof that the recovery was not as successful as I had hoped, the support team offered me a refund. So I contacted the support team again and followed the instructions to cancel the subscription and payments. I guess I did not fully understand what the monthly offer meant. I also discovered that subsequent payments were billed to my Paypal account as if I agreed to a 1 year subscription. And I did not have copies of these files so there was no hope of retrieving them. It turns out that those specific files had been overwritten on my computer before I used Recoverit and these files could not be restored. I asked the support team for help with the remaining files and I sent them screenshots of the files that were unreadable. I was very happy with the results but there were still uncovered files. I followed the instructions and Recoverit found and restored about 75% of my files (PDF, WORD, EXCEL, JPEG, PNG and music files. I thought this was the worst because I did not have copies of everything that was on the USB key. I chose the monthly subscription which amounts to less than $100, the price I would have paid (or more) a technician to try to retrieve my documents with no guarantee of success.

Unfortunately I could not use the free edition of the software because the size of the files I needed to recover exceded the limited quantity offered with the free software.
